Better balanced than my Estwing
Swing feels natural, no dead spots. Head hasn't loosened after six months on framing crews.

American Hickory
Drop-forged high-carbon head, waxed hickory handle. Balanced for driving 16d nails all day without wrist fatigue.
Wipe the head with an oiled rag after wet work. Re-oil the handle twice a year with boiled linseed. If the head loosens, drive a new wedge — do not soak.
From the trade
Swing feels natural, no dead spots. Head hasn't loosened after six months on framing crews.
Held a mirror polish through a whole run of walnut dovetails. No chipping, no rolling.
Been in my belt every day this quarter. Grip is grippy even in the rain. Knock a star off — wish it came in a lefty version.
Feels like the ones my grandfather had. Not tarted up, just made right.
Shop bought one to try, then bought seven more. That's the review.
Handle needed a light sand out of the box. After that, perfect.
Every piece of theirs I own has outlasted the cheaper thing I bought first. Just start here.
Bought for a deck build. Kept using it long after. Feels like a family heirloom.
